‘The Huc Mid Night’ is a large framed oil on canvas Impressionist landscape painting of horizontal format created by Vietnamese artist Le Thanh Son in 2012. Featuring an exquisite palette made of red, green and blue, the painting is filled with clear, complimentary colors creating an intimate mood. Our eye is immediately drawn to the soft light escaping from the doorway at the end of the bridge. A timid figure crosses the bridge towards the doorway. The colors, responding to one another beautifully, are applied in petite impressionistic strokes that bring a sense of lightness to the ensemble. Son’s scene is infused with a sense of lighting unsurpassed by any other painter in Vietnam at the moment.
