Kinetic art emerged from the French impressionist movement post WWII and evolved out  of a fascination with motion and movement. Kinetic art can present itself in a myriad of ways from mobiles, mechanical sculptures or to Op Art paintings which seem to move, pulsate or rotate. Kinetic artists present the viewer with some of the most  consummate expressions of modern art's concern with interpreting rather than representing substantive reality.
