Trinh Tuan is a contemporary Vietnamese artist known for his figure paintings. Tuan has expanded upon the hues and themes found in traditional lacquer painting to produce emotionally powerful works that resonate today. Born in 1961 in Hanoi, Vietnam, he went on to study at the Hanoi Industrial College of Fine Art before earning his MFA from the Hanoi Academy of Fine Arts in 2000. Known as a master teacher of lacquer painting, Tuan lives and works in Hanoi, Vietnam.
